MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick, Swatch and Review

I'm slowly trying to build some sort of MAC lipstick collection and I recently purchased their lovely Velvet Teddy shade. (See the review and swatch for Dark Side here.) I went through many reviews from other beauty bloggers in search of the perfect nude and bought Velvet Teddy from the MAC website. In reality I'd love to have been able to 'try before I buy' but it's difficult when your nearest MAC retailer is an hours train ride away, sigh.

Velvet Teddy has a matte finish which I prefer when choosing a lipstick, although it's creamy enough so that it doesn't appear 'cakey' or dry on your lips. MAC describes it as a 'deep-tone beige' and although other beauty gurus have described this as their perfect nude it's probably best for someone wearing NC40; a teeny bit too dark to be considered nude for me but still a great colour! Like the majority of MAC lipsticks it's highly pigmented and shows up well on your lips, it's staying power is impressive too.

As you can probably tell from the swatch (above) it packs a little pink punch and isn't just your basic beige, a great way to inject some subtle colour  into your look. Although I've mentioned it's a little bit too dark to be considered a nude for me, it's still wearable for day time and looks great with a tan - it was a nice surprising shade when it came in the post.

If you're fair skinned like me and looking for a darker-than-normal-nude, I'd definitely recommend this. It's a great grab and go lipstick for daily wear - MAC's done it again, lovely lipstick with a perfect matte finish and long wearing.

Pin Me

My lovely housemate Emma introduced me to the world of Pinterest after being somewhat addicted to it herself. I didn't realise how inspiring Pinterest can be, there are literally millions of images. I raced to find beauty boards and came across some stunning images. Here are the images that I found to be the most inspiring.

Happy pinning!

What's in My Bag?

Just a little post about what’s currently in my handbag. I bought a new bag from Primark a few weeks ago for a lovely £6 and although it’s quite small it makes room for all of my daily essentials.

Before I leave the house I try to do a mental check, “Phone. Keys. Money.”, most of those lay about my bag loose and I’m awful at putting change away so I’ll normally find a cheeky tenner when I least expect it. Other than the basics I’ll grab makeup before I leave so I can do touch ups during the day – usually concealer, eyeliner, a lippy and lipbalm. It’s not very often I’ll actually touch up my makeup, I think it’s more of a comfort knowing it’s there if I need to (vain, I know).

Dental sticks, a hair clip and a few rings that I’ve thrown off, also often gather in my bag. In order to (desperately try to) improve my organisational skills I carry around a little handbag sized diary which is handy to jot down university deadlines and work rotas.

Bag, £6, Primark | Jacket, £20, Primark (eBay) | Top, £18,Topshop

In reality I’d love to carry my whole bedroom around with me but I doubt I’d ever find a handbag big enough!

Lush Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb

After seeing so many bloggers rave about Lush handmade bath bombs I decided to venture in today, during a shopping trip to Belfast, to see what all the fuss was about! After smelling basically everything in the shop I purchased their 'Tisty Totsy' bath bomb. It smells amazing - so comforting and definitely one to buy if you have trouble relaxing/sleeping.

Putting my new Primark jumper to good use!

It's beautiful scent is a combination of 'floral orris root powder, rose and lemon', and it's also studded with 7 real rosebuds that float in the bath. It reminded me of talc at first but my sense of smell is the worst.

Note the copy of 'Look' Magazine - a must when your phone dies mid train journey.

Another plus is the ΓΌber-cute packaging, it comes dated in a little paper bag with instructions for your brand new bath bomb. Lets hope this little Lush love spell has some truth in it!

"This ballistic is a love spell.
Fill the bath, get in, hold the ballistic in your hands whilst contemplating your chosen one.
Lower into the water to unleash its powerful magic.
Watch the seven rosebuds emerge from the swirling potion and count your way to a budding romance."

At £3.25 each they're just too good to resist. I rarely take baths (I'm more of a shower kinda gal) but I predict myself converting, or at least every time there's a lush bath bomb near. If you're more of a shower lover too then you might fancy trying their shower jelly - it's smells and looks exactly like the jelly you eat. I'm not sure how practical shower jelly is but it smells scrummy!

Other bath goodies that caught my eye include...

Apologies for the crappy pics, I tried to take iPhone snaps quickly without looking like too much of a creep.

I was originally going to buy the 'Ickle Baby Bot' bath bomb before I decided on 'Tisty Tosty' - it's a lavendar bath bomb used to help babies get to sleep, but it must work on adults too riiiight? Their 'Honey I Washed The Kids' hand and body soap is yummy too, and if you're looking for something refreshing 'Avobath' is one to try (no picture, sorry).

I think I've found my new favourite shop! The gorgeous scents, packaging and oh-so-cute names have got me over excited about taking a bath. I'm yet to try my 'Tisty Totsy' but I just know it's going to be the best bath I've had in years, literally.
