Si | Giorgio Armani

'The fragrance opens with notes of Sicilian Bergamot, Mandarin oil and Liquer de Cassis which is supported by a heart which bursts with Rose de Mai absolute, Neroli absolute and Egyptian Jasmine absolute. Warm undertones caress the unique chypre base notes of Patchouli oil intertwined with Blond Woods, amber and musky undertones known as Orcanox™. Finished with a sweet animalic accord of Vanille absolute which, gives this fragrance, longevity and an unforgettable sillage.' - The Perfume Shop.

Yeah, whatever they said. I wouldn't exactly use (or be able to pronounce) half of the words written above if I was asked to describe how 'Si' smelt to me. I would however, say how after one spray it makes me feel like the Sasha Fierce I long to be. For those that didn't get that Beyoncé reference, shame on you.

I get a bit overwhelmed when it comes to choosing a new scent and I'll normally grab the most extravagant looking perfume bottles to try (queue anything by Marc Jacobs). So I was skeptical at first when the sales assistant in my local Boots handed me a modest looking bottle of simply 'Si'. It's no Chanel No.5 love story but the TV advert featuring a very flirty Cate Blanchett had caught my eye.

That day in Boots I said 'yes' to 'Si' and bought a 30ml bottle of the Eau de Parfum, which didn't last me nearly as long as I'd have liked. When it comes to buying luxury cosmetics it's always good to get something in return, whether it be a free gift, or Boots points for those last minute buys before a night out. The Perfume Shop are currently giving out complimentary miniature sets with purchases of 'Si' and I couldn't say no - this time I went for the 50ml bottle at £66.50. Giorgio Armani also sell an Eau de Toilette version which is slightly less expensive, but being heavily influenced by my mother who refuses to wear anything other than Eau de Parfum, I went for something that lingered a little longer on the skin. Quality over quantity.

I have virtually no skills when it comes to describing perfume, but blackcurrant and vanilla are 2 scents that stand out for me as I write this. It's elegant and feminine, first sprays make me feel sleepy for lack of a better word, and a little sexy - if this perfume were a song it might go a little something like this. If you're a fan of sweet scents then this Giorgio Armani perfume just might be the one for you.
